The Preacher's Daughter | SONG

The Preacher's Daughter
Written by: Christopher Williams

I got a date with the preacher's daughter
I don't know where on earth to take her
Or how the hell I ever caught her eye
But I remember pulling outta the drive
Her daddy was on his knees just a prayin'
I guess he thought my mind was on sinnin'

But to tell you the truth
It really ain't no use

We're gonna head on down to the lake
Catch fish, and listen to George Strait
We'll take a ride along those back roads
Taking us where the Lord wants us to go
And in the back of my head I still hear
Her daddy's voice so loud and clear

But to tell you the truth
It really ain't no use

So, Sometime later on in the night
We'll eat dinner under the moon light
I need to have her back home by ten
Or her daddy's gonna lecture me on sin

But to tell you the truth
It really ain't no use

But I bet he'll have me crucified
Hit me with his bible til I see the light
I promised to be in church the very next day
To sit with his daughter and get him off my case

But to tell you the truth
It really ain't no use

I got another date with the preacher's daughter
But I also have to bring along her father
He says he's gonna ride in the back seat
And all night long, he's gonna preach to me
