Stand Up for Them Outlaws | SONG

Stand Up for Them Outlaws
Written by: Christopher Williams

Man, I was flipping through the radio the other day
Just trying to find some Willie, Waylon, or Hank
I couldn't find a single station playing that country gold
My hands were trembling, my body was aching, I was jonsing for some jones
Then a song started coming through
I could've swore it sounded like Chris LeDoux
So I turned it up to hear that song
But when I listened close, I found out that I was wrong

You gotta stand up for them outlaws, dial that request line
If you listen close, you can hear country music dying
You gotta crank it up, and sing it out loud
Do just what they did, you gotta stand your ground
Stand up for them outlaws, and don't back down

I couldn't take it, so I stopped in at some old music store
Asked for some Merle, but they said they don't sell that anymore
And I thought, what the hell is this world coming to
When I can't hear “Mama Tried” or “Working Man Blues”
I felt so bad, I got weak in the knees
I thought it best that I should leave
And drive on up to Music Row
Blasting some Cash, and David Allan Coe!

You gotta stand up for them outlaws, dial that request line
If you listen close, you can hear country music dying
You gotta crank it up, and sing it out loud
Do just what they did, you gotta stand your ground
Stand up for them outlaws, and don't back down

I wonder what they would say if they were here today
I bet they'd just keep on doing things their way, the OUTLAW WAY!

You gotta stand up for them outlaws, dial that request line
If you listen close, you can hear country music dying
You gotta crank it up, and sing it out loud
Do just what they did, you gotta stand your ground
Stand up for them outlaws, and don't back down

Do just what they did, you gotta stand your ground
Stand up for them outlaws, and don't back down
