That's The Workin' Man | SONG

That's The Workin' Man
Written by: Christopher Williams

My days always start 'fore that sun comes up
Eat a little breakfast and hop in the truck
You know I bust my butt for very little pay
My dad did it, so that's how I was raised
It really doesn't help if you make a fuss
This kinda job would make a normal man cuss

Because that's the workin' man
Always with something in his hand
He doesn't have the time to slow it down
He works himself right into the ground
Come rain or snow or a fiery heat
He does it, cuz his family's gotta eat
Yeah, that's the workin' man

You know, it'd be a big waste of my time
Cuz I'm too busy to stand in a welfare line
No, I gotta keep on workin' to get it done
I don't have the time to sit around and bum
There's no help for the poor boys like me
Cuz we make it all on our own, you see

Because that's the workin' man
Always with something in his hand
He doesn't have the time to slow it down
He works himself right into the ground
Come rain or snow or a fiery heat
He does it, cuz his family's gotta eat
Yeah, that's the workin' man

I've paid way more than my fair share of taxes
Just so the unemployed can sit on their asses
This whole damn system is just so unfair
That sometimes its too much for me to bear
I wish someone out there would just give a damn
Bout the workin' man, Cuz that's who I am

Because I'm a workin' man
Always with something in my hand
I don't have the time to slow it down
I work myself right into the ground
Come rain or snow or a fiery heat
I do it, cuz my family's gotta eat

Yeah, I'm a workin' man
That's the workin' man
God Bless the workin' man
